The recreation ground was purchased in 1952 and now provides a range of facilities for residents of the village. There is a football ground and a tennis and basketball court. Bookings of the field can be made with the Parish Clerk. The procedure for booking the Court is in the Hall or on the notice board. Dressing rooms are available in the Village Hall and bookings should be made with the Village Hall Committee. New Play Equipment for the 21st Century An impressive range of new play equipment was officially opened for use by Cliff Cleaver, our local county councillor and current Chairman of the Warwickshire County Council, on 29th March 2003. The previous play equipment was basic and unimaginative and an annual ispection found that much of the equipment did not meet European safety standards and should be destroyed. The cost of new equipment was prohibitive and the village did not have funds to cover the high cost for replacement equipment. In 2002 the Parish Council paid for the provision of a seven position log walk etc. Later in 2002 a sub-committee was formed of four young mums supported by the Village Hall Committee to try to secure funding to replace most of the remaining old the equipment. WREN (Waste Recycling Environmental Ltd), Warwick District Council Rural Initiatives Fund and the Parish Council agreed to fund the purchase of new equipment up to the value of £36,000. The village now has a wide range of superb play equipment for our children. It has already been used by the Youth Club, Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Junior Football. For details of these groups see the organisations page. |
